After the Pulse
In the year 2077, the Pulse, a High-alititude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP), has combined with a solar event to plunge the world into darkness, knocking out anything electronic. Solar radiation kills off around 99% of the Earth’s population in a matter of years.
Through a quirk in the Earth’s electromagnetic field, things like magnets and crystals now act differently, leading to many new technological innovations from perpetual motion machines, immensely-powerful plasma rifles and even the unlocking human brain’s innate telepathic abilities.
This series follows the survivors and their stories, centred around the city of Perth and all along the southwestern coast of Australia. Whether they’re a telepath with newly-discovered powers or simply a man trying to flee the dangers of the newly-blackened city, humanity’s connection through family and friends is a constant theme through the thrilling action and even mystery!
The Council: A Psi’s Revenge
Book One of After the Pulse
It's the year 2138, just over 60 years after the world went dark. Cities lie in ruin and gangs and cults control their own territories across the southwest of what used to be Western Australia. After mankind has recovered from near-extinction, society has reformed itself under the inventive technology and leadership of the Company. Through a quirk in electromagnetics, the Company has unlocked the brain's telepathic abilities while vehicles are powered by mag-engines, perpetual-motion machines, and the tenuous peace is kept by the Guard and their infamous plasma rifles, the most powerful hand-held weapon that's ever existed.
Employed as a Psi by the Company, 20-year old Jatz comes home to find his father murdered, and he's next. He'll fight for his life against corrupt Edge Guards and hunt for his father's killer within the Company while a fugitive from the dangerous and secretive inner cabal, The Council. As his telepathic powers grow in ways no human has seen before, he'll find more questions than answers about the Council and the complex history it has with his entire family.
Dukan has kept his telepathic abilities hidden while doing hard labour for a crime he didn't commit, but is a dangerous pawn in an even more dangerous game. He'll fight for his freedom in any way he can, and make sure that those who have wronged him all pay.
Jatz and Dukan's paths will cross during their quests for revenge, in more ways than either could have imagined, and together they'll eventually uncover the truth about the Council, and themselves.More info →
The Unholies: A Psi Defends
It's 2139, just over 60 years after the world went dark and almost a year after the Council's failed coup of the Company's leadership. Promoted by attrition, Sori finds herself almost single-handedly running the Company Territory from Freo to the south.
But a new threat has emerged. A mysterious and powerful telepath is assassinating Company employees and the killings coincide with attacks from the Unholies, a crazed and violent offshoot from the Hoytists, a religious cult that owns the entire southwest of what used to be Western Australia.
Newly-partnered Edge Guards Jatz and Raysha, along with the enigmatic Dukan, will try to help Sori protect the Company Territory from attacks, from outside and within. Each protects their own secrets though, and the truth might tear the entire territory apart.More info →
